The present Master's thesis deals with the learning environment as a way of teaching and its potentialities for the construction of the knowledge of the babies, aiming to investigate the ways of organizing a school environment that support and promote the learning of the babies. The investigation was carried out from the follow - up of the practice of a teacher of a Municipal Center for Early Childhood Education, located in the city of Salvador / Ba. The methodological course of this study is anchored in the qualitative research, with approximations with the assumptions of the action research. Photographs, filming, interviews and the itinerant daily were used as instruments for data collection. After being collected, the data were analyzed using the content analysis technique idealized by Bardin (2011). Research reveals the importance of the school environment, understood in this study as a learning environment for the trials of babies. Thus, it is evident the relevance of the teaching strategies of a teacher, since these will, from a sensitive view of the interests and needs of the babies, will select the elements for the later investigations of the babies. The necessary selection, organization and availability of the materials in a learning environment are also emphasized, as well as fostering the autonomous posture of the babies, will potentiate their investigations and discoveries, making possible the construction of their knowledge.
