Next week, the staff of Univates Acarology Laboratory will participate in the V Brazilian Symposium on Acarology. The symposium will occur between the 21st and the 24th of July at Universidade Estadual Paulista, in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo. The symposium will discuss “Integrative Acarology: the course of acarology in Brazil and in South America.
In total, 16 people from the laboratory (master’s students and PhD students) will present 22 papers. Some students are attending the symposium for the first time and will have the chance to be in touch with people from all around Brazil. Biological Sciences student Tairis Costa who has been part of the team for two years says “Taking part in such an important event is an indescribable experience. I will have the chance to be in touch with researchers from all over the world, attend lectures and present the research I developed – she says.
Laboratory coordinator professor Noeli Juarez Ferla, will hold a lecture on the 23rd “Mite fauna associated with of rice culture in Rio Grande do Sul ”. In 2013 Ferla chaired the fourth edition of the symposium in thecity of Bento Gonçalves. The theme was Organisation, Perspective and Challenges in the way of Acarology in Brazil.
